P1080953We have just set off on the Talk Fracking nationwide tour and this blog will be the first in a series of updates from our travels.

60-UK Firstly, thank you! Thank you to all the good people out there who have supported us, from the Scottish farmer who got in touch with us this morning, and the geological scientist who is coming to Manchester to grill the panel, to the great folk at Frack Free Wales who have distributed the flyers across the country and a special big thanks to Dan Byles, MP for North Warwickshire & Bedworth, who is helping form a strong pro shale panel for the London debate. We could not be doing any of this without all the help freely given to us from people who simply want to see the British Public looking into fracking and unconventional gas for themselves, and to get an independent debate going.

However, our regional debates have had to turn into panel discussions, as the key industry figures that we have invited have all declined to turn up, or have just not replied. But there will still be plenty of people in the audiences who are pro shale gas and who will be grilling the panels. So, if you are undecided or confused by what you’ve read in the press and online, this is your chance to ask questions, hear the facts and make your own mind up. Let’s have an open discussion about something that’s going to affect all of us.

Our big ask now is for the industry and government departments that we have been contacting to step up to the mark and provide strong panellists for the London debate on June 16th. Let’s not have Jon Snow acting as a compere for one side of the debate, instead of chairing a debate for one of the most important issues in the country today!

Follow us on the road by following #talkfracking on twitter, and tuning into this blog, our Facebook and our YouTube channel where we will be posting videos documenting the tour, the panel discussions and public opinion.
